Like other minority communities in Asheville North Carolina, latino | hispanic diversity resource support and focus groups are quite limited. In fact – we couldn’t find but a few that were specific to Asheville. Mostly what we could find were groups based out of other areas of the state.
Some of the local support programs – though not specifically employment related are noted below:
Immigrant rights and issues
- North Carolina DREAM Team
- El Cambio
- Immigrants and Allies United for Justice / Inmigrantes y Aliados Unidos por la Justicia
- Uniting NC
Latino Advocacy Coalition – El Centro
The mission of the Latino Advocacy Coalition is to advocate for the well being of the Latino community by promoting and developing leaders from within the Latino community and by strengthening the understanding and cooperation with the broader community while upholding and preserving the richness of Latino cultures. In 2002, LAC created El Centro, the first community center reaching out to Latinos in Western North Carolina.
